Hooke had been interested in this book at least 3 years prior to finally purchasing it from Lapthorne's auction. The same Ferrara edition appears on Hooke's list of desiderata on fol. 149r of British Library, MS Sloane 1039; this list can now be linked to the auction of Edward Wray's library, and the book matches lot 47 (listed as Jac. de Nigro Ponte & Amaeniora de fontibus Philosophia figuris) on p. 6 of William Cooper's Catalogus librorum bibliothecae instructissimae Eduardi Wray de Barling . . . quorum auctio habenda est . . . Junii 20. 1687, available online via EEBO.|
